Our Mission

SEND the Help CIC exists to ensure children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) receive the right support, families feel informed and empowered, and that all young people get the opportunity for enrichment and success.

We work to reduce barriers, improve understanding, and create joined-up support around children and young people who do not fit neatly into existing systems.

Who We Are

SEND the Help CIC is a Devon-based, non-profit organisation supporting children, young people and families who are navigating Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). We work across education, community and public settings to improve access, wellbeing and inclusion for those who may struggle within traditional systems.

Our work combines practical SEND advice, inclusive activities, and professionally delivered wellbeing provision, all informed by lived experience and a clear understanding of how complex and overwhelming the SEND system can be.

What We Do

We deliver a blended offer of support, provision and guidance, including:

  • SEND advice sessions for parents and carers, offering clear, independent guidance around education options, support pathways and the EHCP process

  • EHCP support, including applications, evidence preparation and appeal guidance

  • Open the Palette, a creative programme using art to support emotional expression, regulation and confidence

  • Mindful Mondays, focusing on gentle movement, grounding and emotional wellbeing

  • Skills Days, supporting independence, confidence and practical life skills in a low-pressure, supportive environment

  • The Chill Tent, a professionally staffed, sensory-friendly pop-up wellbeing space for festivals, events and community settings

  • Workshops, events and partnerships that promote SEND understanding, inclusion and accessibility beyond the classroom

All of our work is SEND-informed, trauma-aware and delivered at an individual pace, with participation always voluntary and respectful.

Our Approach

We believe support should be:

  • Clear and honest

  • Accessible and non-judgemental

  • Flexible rather than one-size-fits-all

  • Grounded in real lived experience, not theory alone

We work collaboratively with families, schools, local organisations and event partners to ensure inclusion is meaningful, not tokenistic.

Our Story

SEND the Help CIC was founded by Grace Brown, an experienced SEND advocate and parent of four children with lived experience of the SEND system. After more than 15 years navigating education, health and local authority processes, Grace established SEND the Help CIC to ensure families are not left to navigate complex systems alone and that inclusive support exists beyond traditional settings.

“After more than 15 years on this journey, I couldn’t allow other families to feel as lost or unsupported as we did. SEND the Help exists to offer clear guidance, safe spaces and genuine inclusion — delivered by people who understand.”
— Grace Brown, Founder, SEND the Help CIC
